The Magic Ladies development program is almost ready to start, although we have had to wait a little longer than expected for our home field to be ready for action. The seeding of grass, installation of a sprinkler system and the repair of the soil at our WPCC home field has taken an extra 2 months to get the field looking close to the real deal. We didn’t want to start our coaching program at the field until it was in a decent condition – we are almost there!
In the meantime, Coaches Katherine Poole and George Dearnaley have started working with the coaching staff at both Sans Souci Girls school in Claremont and Groote Schuur High School in Rondebosch. There were 29 girls at a recent session at Groote Schuur – and there was an incredible interest and passion for the game among these young players.
Our coaches have assisted with coaching sessions and the sharing of coaching material with the coaches at these schools. There are more schools that are joining our program and we hope to be able to increase the number of interested female players and also build a database of female coaches who are interested in coaching education.
We will make an announcement when training at our field will start – keep an eye out later this month.
There is no cost – but all players who wish to join our session must register their details via email (admin@magicfc.co.za) and sign the indemnity form.
Training is for girls 13+ and we will focus on an introduction to basic technical skills and football fitness.
